There are a number of carnation pests. The main ones are described below.



Variegated cutworm clips off the buds and stems of older plants and young plants are cut off at the soil surface.


Aphids suck plant juices, as will thrips.


Mites cause the leaves to turn pale and have a dusty coating. Heavily infested plants are stunted.
